WHAT IS GROUNDED IN GOODNESS?
Grounded in Goodness is Aldi’s flagship sustainable beef programme, delivered in partnership with ABP. Aldi is already one of the UK’s largest buyers of British beef. 100% of the fresh beef sold in our UK stores is born, reared and slaughtered in Britain.
Our customers value high-quality British beef, and we want to help secure its future. That’s why we’ve developed Grounded in Goodness with ABP, to strengthen the sector and reward farmers taking practical steps to improve the sustainability of our beef.
The scheme has two clear aims: to help farmers make practical environmental and operational improvements on farm, and to demonstrate the role British beef farming can play in a more resilient and sustainable food system.

Once you have registered as an ABP supplier, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire through the ABP livestock hub, providing information about your farm, your enterprise and any relevant sustainability actions. You can choose from the list of available action options and submit supporting evidence to qualify for a bronze, silver or gold payment per head of cattle. Based on the information shared, the ABP scheme manager will confirm your farm payment rate, and this will be applied to the qualifying cattle.
The intention is for farmers to progress through the tiers over time, choosing the actions that best suit your farm and future plans. Payment tiers will be agreed on an annual basis for each farm, against the scheme qualifying criteria for that year, supporting improvement at a pace that works for you.

ABP will support you throughout the process. This includes help with completing your farm questionnaire if needed, selecting actions, uploading evidence and understanding your results. They will also track progress over time and feed farmer insights back into the scheme, so it continues to improve.
